and its a strict no publicity water too, which could be a laugh in itself if someone catches a big common.

    Thumbs up

I have dabbled on and off over the years as i am only 2 or 3 minutes up the road it has had so many different people/clubs running it, none have lasted very long because they could never get people interested as the stock were all pretty small, but they arn't bad lakes to look at.
They must have carried out a major stocking programme because there was nothing any bigger than a few sraper/low twenties in there up until the new syndicate took it over and they were few and far between.

same with me Pipeshoe, used to work on the forestry section of the waterboard, looked after the trees there.
Fished it from the pumping station bank in the late 60's early 70's when it was trout, fly only, there were some lovely old carp in there then.
Got chased off many a time
Fished it in the 90's when Pisces had the lease, multiple catches of 12 - 15lb commons and one 23lb mirror.
I guess the trout people relocated a lot of the carp, or someone did, the pumping station bay used to fill up with carp at spawning time, would have been easy enough to net then.

In the 60's the smaller of the lakes held large quantities of 2lb+ roach.

Don't know if it ever came out, I enquired about membership aroud 1990 and got a brochure sent to me a couple of years later with a picture of it being stocked, so i never bothered with going any further with it.
Got sent same brochure for 2 more years until i moved

Wates, how do you know it was fish from abroad? You said you only saw it in a pic, from a brochure they sent you. Did it say, look what we've got?

Yes, they were legal imports from somewhere or other, possibly Germany, they made a big deal of it, emphasising the legal aspect.
Like i said, i switched off completely at that point.
I was a lot younger then and if they had been stocking with English fish i may have had a go.............

I've just had a dig through some old bits and bobs, in case i'd kept one of thr brochures, no joy i'm afraid.
On a brighter note i did find 2 Cardinal 155s, a copy of Fly Fishing by J.R.Hartley and a bottle of Aramis
I'll be wearing that in the Barge saturday night, make no mistake

Do you remember what club it was? As far as I can remember, only two clubs have had control of Sundridge in the last 15 or so years. Holmesdale Angling and Pisces. Holmesdale are still up and running. Pisces, was run by a father and son.
