Okay Tad... try this for starters. Seeing Yateley is in the news at the moment. When carp anglers in the late 1970s and in particular the 1980 season started looking at the small lake at the back of the Match, they spied a whopper. Tim Norman managed to hook (and lose) this fish in the summer of 1979 claiming it was a 30-pounder. In 1980 local specialist angler Bob Burchett landed the fish in Sept at 32lb 6oz. Then the pressure started: the picture reproduced here is Terry Glebioska’s capture in early August at 35ľlb. A few weeks later Kevin Maddocks banked the fish at a spawned out weight of 32ľlb.

Interestingly, the Copse and Nursery lakes were originally leased by Alec Holmwood who owned the adjacent Tri-Lakes Fisheries. In 1965 his son Colin took over the business. It was Colin who stocked the Copse, Nursery and Tri-Lakes with carp in 1967. This amounted to 100 carp up to 10lb-12lb. These fish were purchased from Weirwood Reservoir. In 1969 Tri-Lakes relinquished its lease and the Copse and Nursery were put under the Halls Angling scheme as part of the Yateley complex. Though a netting took place on both the Copse and Nursery by their very nature it proved an almost impossible task. The Copse lake fish I am talking about was likely to be one of the Weirwood stocked fish from 1967.

    Nat,
Yes, thatís the Parrot - the flesh missing from the left hand side of the mouth (that never re-grew properly) was likely to have been caused when Tim Norman lost the fish in 1979.
Another picture from the special album next week.

Hope people did'nt mind me resurecting a 2004 thread...Just thought it might make interesting reading and have the potential to be a great thread.

Me thinks there could be few 'where are they now ' characters in the album, never mind chesh and Alibee.......

    Keep them coming Chris please.

Also, Re Chris's "special album", I know for a fact that he has a "Special, Special Album" and that a picture I took is in that as well. He doesn't usully carry that album about with him but keeps it next to his bed.

You know the one I'm on about Mr Ball.
