    Default Des Taylor Otter Petition

On Des Taylorís own Facebook page is a petition he has recently created for the introduction of no lethal means of control of the Otter.

As Des has put it bluntly and rightly so ďThousands of you have been moaning about the situation now itís time to stand by your postĒ.

If you havenít been affected by them, then you will most likely know the devastation they can cause to fisheries. Think about others too and for the future of the sport.

Kind of sad that the cv, Kent, Essex, Sussex etc hasn't contributed to this petition as much as other areas. Considering what these areas have to lose you'd think the anglers in these areas would be more sympathetic to the cause.

Is pretty sad isn’t it mate, so many carp are under threat yet nobody can take 1 minute of their time to sign a petition. Wether anything comes of said petition, it matters not. Just to get our voices heard is what does matter and is a good start! At the moment only fenced syndicates will be the safest place to angle. I myself am forced to drop my club ticket this year on a water with awesome carp that are slowly being killed. As a result it’s a case of putting my name down on waiting lists and having to flirt around until one turns up. Sad state of affairs and very selfish indeed

    Copied from another site:

"Unfortunately it will likely come to no fruition. The Angling Trust acts as our legal and government body, and have already stated they will not support this petition."

Have they got any better ideas, then?

Was it mr currie on carp radio who said that the angling trust has let us down on this. And that's why a few ambassadors had stepped away from them.

The petition is load of tosh lads. They're petitioning for none lethal controls. The PAG already won this battle, licenses are already granted for trapping/removing, hence it's petitioning for something that already exists. That's why no official bodies are supporting it.
I agree it's good to get our voices heard but in light of the above we sound pretty stupid.

Trap and release is for otters who get stuck within a fenced lake. Which is next to no use really.

Lol this petition isn't worth the paper its written on.

whats non lethal going to do, put the otter somewhere else to eat someone else's fish.

Nature will balance out, we will lose allot of big old fish but the young fish coming through will make our fishing better than ever in years to come.

If its carp in a lake you want to protect then put a fence round it.

That's not correct. Anyone can apply for a licence, there's no stipulation that the water has to be fenced. Admittedly it's not been tested yet and there's no guarantee that one would be granted but until people start applying and testing the system then we'll never know how easy it will be.

So.....they catch otters in the Cv and then let them go in where ?

    Up the road...down the road.......??

    Pointless signing it tbf

Also....the CV has no water so they cant travel up through water.....

His own petition is only causing another problem somewhere else really.

    Im out.
