    Default Self Heating Food

Does anyone remember those meals in a can that heated themselves up?
Used to use them about 30 years ago(wow was it really that long ago) when day fishing for pike at wraysbury and through rose tinted glasses remember them being delicious......what were they called?
Can't find them online but I'm guessing the new hot meal kits are much better, gonna have to try one out of curiosity

I had one once - it was vile, and bulkier than carrying a stove!

They were bulky but nice on a day's pike fishing. Puncture the top and the can and contents would heat up. The idea didn't seem to last long though. They seemed to die out after a couple of years.

A lot of that stuff was army issue, tasted great didn’t they I remember a mate telling me he had the food sorted for a two day session.
For breakfast he pulls out these two cans, “here we go mate, breakfast!” I love a full English, so i’m looking at him, “uh?” I mutter.

Then he pulls the pin out of the side, and starts piercing the can, then tells me a chemical reaction is happening, and our breakfast is being cooked!
Well, some time later, he opens the lids, and the contents was piping hot and steaming. I can’t tell you what it smelt like.
I was so wound up, because i was angry, i wound in, and drove down the cafe, and left himto his hand grenades!
