To make as much money as possible, with the minimum outlay.

Building in an SSSI or next to a world ranked RAMSAR!! Even if near the sites - they will need express Government permissions.

So glad they "saved the fishing from the developers" as everyone said at the time...

Having paid out a considerable sum - no wonder they want to make the most of their asset and a return on that investment.

A similar thing going on in Essex.
A farm gets sold that has a fairly 'under the radar' syndicate water on it. The guy that runs the syndicate says "the new owners are the best thing that's happened in years", a few years later there are drawings out there for 3000 houses to go on the farm. Some right on the banks and running down the central spit.
Funny how these people with loads of money suddenly realise the true potential of their recent purchases.

It's rife, has happened all over the Cotswold Water Park too. Bottom line is houses are worth more than smelly blokes catching fish lol!

**** it off and move to France - between this issue of population overcrowding and house prices... and otters, UK is game over.

Would it be cynical to suggest the lake is being fished to provide some income whilst they sort the developments....

Thing is, nobody from the angling world had an alternative. Loads of people professed to love the place, but when push came to shove they did nothing. Maybe between them they could have banded together and purchased it themselves................................
Who keeps banning me, and does it make you feel real powerful ?

The only thing that can possibly keep the water is the RAMSAR and SSSI status - nature conservation.

As that doesn't matter a jot where HS2 is concerned, it may well trickle down and not matter as much other places too..................

That doesn't work for me - and perhaps others.

What about the proposed Thames Flood Relief Channel going through the Wraysbury pits?

Ongoing but looks like they have a preferred route, will affect W2 and road lake/fox etc
It aint the size of your rod, its how you dangle it in the water !
