Default Best braid to mono leader knot?

    Hey all,

What's the best knot for connecting braided main line to a mono leader please? Will be very high lb braid and very high lb mono... for big fish big hit and hold situations?

    Thank you

    Ben

The Mahin knot is very strong, gives a tapered barrel to the knot and doesn't snag passing through the rings.

Double grinner. 3 turns with the mono and 6 with the braid. Will never fail you

GT knot, closely followed by the FG knot, both the slim and super strong.

The FG is the best for me. I use it all the time on the coast lure fishing around rough ground for very aggressive fish. I also use it on my beach casting set up with mono leaders, 100% reliable and 100% strength retained. Added bonus is its so slim there is no frapping issues as you cast it, very smooth transition from leader to mainline.

Used the FG a little but preferred the GT, found it a pig to tie to start with but with any knot it becomes a lot easier and neater after a few attempts.
Same as leeon above, not used it on a carp setup but for sea lure fishing 20lb braid to 20/30lb fluoro and it has never let me down.

I use the FG knot, it’s slim and has never let me down, there’s some videos on how to tie it on YouTube. Just take your time to get it right.
I do what I'm good at and I'm good at what I do!

Albright or Mahin, personally, i think if you tie the Mahin properly, itís the better knot (for casting)

Leave the two tag ends quite long, although it might not look quite right, it helps the knot to pass through the guides smoothly.
