Default Freespool conversion advice required please

I currently use Shimano XTD reels with Ice washers fitted, and the free spool to locked up is excellent. I will soon be getting a pair of Tournament S 5000T as a birthday present and was wondering if Weston caps coupled with carbon washers would work as well as the XTD free spool/clutch system I really want a free spool to lock up in about a quarter to a half turn, are Weston caps / carbon washers the best option or can anyone recommend anything else ?
Ive always used Shimano baitrunners but have been converted to the front drag option which I now prefer, the only Daiwa reels I have owned are the Infinity 5500 BTR so have no experience of Weston conversions. Any advice will be very much appreciated!
    Cheers Teekay

My carbon washers are due to arrive tomorrow so I will soon find out if they live up to expectations when matched with my quick drag tournies

The carbon washers make the clutch very smooth which is a big plus if like me you play your fish off the clutch. The spring mod in the cap is what converts to QD.
    I'd hit that !!!!!!

Yes the carbon washers will speed the clutch up as well as make it smoother as there is a lot less compression than the felt washers, but as you say the spring also slows the clutch down.

Doing either the spring or the washers both speed them up but the combination of the two is what really speeds them up, i personally find the full qd's too quick

Hi, you have to replace spring in Drag Knob, with a plastic/ Nylon Bush.
This makes it solid, rather than having to compress spring.
Can be bought for some reels from Future Fishing.
Or make your own, look on eBay for appropriate size Bushes, then cut them down etc.
Plenty of Vids on Future Fishing Website, shows you what its all about.
Regards Bush, Felt Washers, Nylon Washers, Carbon Washers.

    Bob

ps with a Reel with Baitrunner Drag Knob, you will have to buy new Drag Knobs as well.
