Default Johnson Ross tackle sonik black kit email

Did anyone else receive this email about being one in ten and getting a load of sonik kit and only having to pay for delivery?

    Seems incredibly scammy to me.
Pink reel seats on your rods?!

    Taken from another Forum

from Johnson Ross: We have been notified by customers that a hoax email has been sent out supposedly from us saying you are entitled to a free set of SONIK rods. We have not sent this email, we have not been hacked it is from a scammer that has obtained an email database (not from us) and has simply used our logo to make it look like it is from us.

I also had one. There was nothing on their website when I looked at it earlier today.

Think I'm going to give them a call tomorow and suggest they send a mail out to everybody on their data base ( that was not hacked honest ) or they sold it .

As not everybody uses Facebook . I believe they should have done this as soon as they found out.

BIG BLACK MARK AGAINST THEM. Ill not use them again as either way there not to be trusted in my opion.

Id say JR have lied about not being hacked and that they have performed poorly in regards to making people aware.

I suspect the first JR new about this was when customers noticed the email... While its easy to play the pointy finger of blame game, maybe these people "DESIGNED & MAINTAINED BY NW7DESIGN" , should be your first port of call

No it shouldn't, customers deal with JR and not the company you name, its JR who take and hold customers information.

You seem to be missing the point, the customer deals with JR, i dont care who designs/hosts their website, does their deliveries or cleans their windows. Its up to JR to keep my details secure and honer any contract they enter into with me as a customer.

So you expect a tackle dealer to keep your details secure.. your either very naive... or don't appreciate, that JR outsource their web services to another company, who are responsible for your data security....

No definitely not naive and understand fully. In a court of law your statement is irrelevant unless JR terms and conditions say different the customer only enters into agreement with JR therefore it is their responsibility above and over any third party they choose to use.

My main concern is that as far as I can see they did not act quickly enough to inform their customers with an email as that's the method the scam was on.

I have asked them to remove all my data. Probabley to late I know but then I know anything else from them is a scam as well.

Also as already pointed out you deal with JR therefore in this day and age expect them and the people working/acting on their behalf to behave in a proper manner as well.

Sorry if this sounds harsh. I actualy feel sorry for them as it must have been a nightmare in the shop yesterday with people calling in.

I didn't get an email, gutted as could really do with some free stuff.
Seriously though, I am an online customer of JR, so when I buy from them, my contract is with them and them alone, surely it is their responsibility to keep my data secure, regardless of whoever their web support is with.

Johnson Ross Tackle Hi Neil, yes we are investigating it, it looks like a database from somewhere else has been used as we have had people contact us that have never purchased from us before, therefore we do not have their details. We have just been used as "the host" as people trust us, its exactly what the scammers out there do. Our site is totally secure and our provider has confirmed that we have not been breached at all.

Looks like Johnson Ross are the victims here, not the villains.
