Start off with smaller species, or if you simply must be an instant carp angler, start with small fish so you know how to handle them properly. I've seen and heard about some absolute noddies on my water putting two carp in a sack, leaving fish on a mat while walking round the lake to ask for a photo, etc. Poor fish care is not on, no matter the size.
