Wow, need more storys, URGENT, seriously thanks for that.
It was easy once now look at it
There have been some great stories written on this site but most involve chasing a named fish in a pond. This is a proper angling story and I think the blurry picture of the 4lb adds to it!
Thanks levigsp![]()
Brilliant, your story has gone viral.

He means every man and his dog is reading your tale mate, I for one have pointed quite a few people in the direction of this thread and it has now had 980 viewings!
Don't be embarrassed, it really is that good.

Best tale I read. Other than the obvious descriptives uttered by those I've shared it with one stand out comment was "the very essence of angling"
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods
In my opinion you came as close to living this passage from Walden life in the woods as anyone I've ever read! And equally as eloquent in the delivery of your story
Good quote Pigpen.Too much chasing money instead of dreams in this life. There is something to admire in living life without regret,it takes balls.
Just to echo what's already been said, thanks for sharing an incredible story. A truly gripping read, superb.

Your story makes me realise I'm only playing at this game.
Unreal - that is hardcore to the extreme.
Thanks for taking the time to tell your story, it was amazing.
I need to put my health at risk, and hunt for the table, this winter if I want to catch my targets.![]()
Never let morals get in the way of a good insult.
I've also just ditched my misses!![]()

Fantastic story. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to share it with us. Are you still friends with Martin ?
It reminded me (slightly) of John Baileys chapter, in the book 'Big Fish Scene'
I too would love to hear more of your stories
Fisherman, Metal Detectorist, Stud
Amazing account of a truly epic campaign culminating in the capture of what is the fish of a lifetime. Dedication to the extreme! And to top it all you had another 4lber. Did it mean as much as the first one?
Looking forward to reading some more tales of campaigns you had since although I suspect the best one has already been told.
Show em nothing.....tell em nothing!
And I thought my record 25 night session with gas stove, winter skin bivvy, bivvy carpet, bivvy heater and TV was hardcore!
Well done.
Big river Roach really are special creatures.
