    Nothing monsterous...

But some as old as the hills & stunning stunning fish...

Certainly not runs type water... I used to fish the Holmesdale as a kid, when it was run by Bromley angling club...

A mate had some nice ones couple years ago so they are still there...

I went to their open day recently for a look at their main venue, Chipstead Lake (aka the ocean). Predominant species seems to be bream and roach but they had photos up of some 30lb+ carp, and as said they are pretty fish.
You can use upto 4 rods and bait boats if you wish, which is handy as it's a huge lake!
You can also fish the close season right through by attending 2 full working parties or paying a levy to do so.
As above, look at their website, it's also quite an affordable club, I know they have open membership at present.
    Hope that helps.

Dont think its ever been known as "the ocean" dave, thats 1's a few miles away & nothing to do with that club, the big lake with the bird hides on was always known as The Holmesdale before the club were about (Although they are a newish club so maybe calling it different now), there used to be bigger carp in the smaller lakes at the back, the 1 with all the pads in my dad had a 36lber from circca 1982 off the top... Big fat thing it was...

Yep Longford main lake aka Chipstead lake, called the ocean by carpers who fished there years back. The other ocean is Larkfield No 1.

See your in Surrey so you cant be too far away from Crawley, pop in to the tackle warehouse and have a word with Andy, he put a lot of time in on there and will be only too glad to help.

No 1 is/was called the Ocean
No 2 is .... well No 2 by the sewage works and No 3 is now called Abbey Meads
1 & 2 is MKF and Abbey Meads is MVF controlled.

Chipstead Lake aka Longfield Lake was called the ocean in the 80s by carpers at that time, hence the confusion with the Larky Ocean (No 2).

All these number 1s and 2s eh!

LOL... I meant on his point number two in the post... Not that it was Larky 2

How you doing DFB? All good i hope fella? You still fishing up there Jay? Pop in for a cuppa as your passing 1 day if so... Sent you a PM...

Ive fished all the lakes mentioned in this thread, never knew they called what we used to call The Holmesdale (Chipstead)... The Ocean... Thats where the intial confusion was & why i said thanks to Barbus for teaching me something new...

I fish Larky 1 (rather alot )... Also known as The Ocean... Thats what i was refering to as the godforsaken place in the previous post...

Just to make it even more confusing, The Ocean, used to be known as "The Windsurfer" lake when i was a kid... LOL

Im giving up now, my head hurts

Good luck down "The Holmesdale" original poster...

I fished the big Chipstead lake for a season back in 1990. I knew it as the Ocean. Had sailing boats, a boat club house and some silly steep banks.

Gonna joing Holmesdale this season, had a walk round today. The big lake is daunting, gonna stick to pleasure fishing the little lake this season and have plenty of walks round the big lake and maybe have a crack at the carp next season.

I hear there are some very very big carp in there that have never come out. And with loads of natural food, mussel beds, the carp have no reason to get onto the boilies but using natural baits can result in nothing but bream which there's supposed to be HUGE shoals of.

Bloke i spoke to today reckon the bream in the big lake go up to 15lb
