Finally have a chance of a day session, i'm looking for a runs water to go to on sunday or monday early till mid afternoon.
GGot to be within 45mins of guildford and not cost the earth any one any ideas.
I've a few rigs to try so looking for the best chance of action doesn't matter on fish size either.

There is Willinghurst in Shamley Green, loads of runs to try out rigs ect. A day ticket will set you back £10 for 1 rod or £13 for 2.

thanks for all your help so far, thorpe lea seems to be the place, i wouldn't however go back to goldvalley if you paid me! been once for a quick day session and hated every minute of it.
Serious plastic fishing!

If you dont like Gold valley (Which I can understand) you will definatly not like Thorpe lea. Its not the venue or the baliffs or the fish its the PUNTERS everytime. And runs waters just attract that sort of person .

Thorpe Lea CAN be rough, but not always, everytime i've gone i've set up in a swim next to a nice chatty person, who comes over to have a chat, offer advice or whatever. My advice would be to walk round first, if you really don't want to be near "Punters" as you say, there are some swims, near the house over the back, that you can be alone all day and between us lot, i've seen some god fish on the surface there. http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I understand Craydude NOT everyone is bad but I have had to many sessions where I have been spodding bait out for 10-15 mins so making quite a racket and the guy next door as soon as I stop casts his rig strait in front of me on my baited area. Large groups of European families get down there and take over large sections of the bank complete with wife kids and dogs and have no regard for fishing. I have seen rods dragged in buzzers sounding for ages ETC ETC ETC.
And yes you can walk around but it is a very very long way around with only one car park and no other access to the lake.
To mirror your sentiment I have meet some really nice people especially the baliffs but I have seem some very poor angling.

I must agree that i have had LOADS of people casting into my swim after baiting up with a catapult, PVA Bag etc. and the Bailiffs are the best i've met anywhere I've been, really nice helpful guys. As for large families I've fished next to a guy that brought his family, his dog, everything but the kitchen sink, shame cos it is quite a nice water.

Crazidude might want to try Tri-lakes in Yateley, next door to the famous complex. You can get 3 or 4 fish a day on average, and up to 10 on a good day.

£15 for 2 rods, 9am til 6.30pm

Nice fish, nobody casting in your swim.
