Anyone fish it, have fished it?
I haven't been over there since I started float fishing in the 80's, but I've heard it has some carp form, any info?

Fished it plenty in my younger days and had my first 20 from there late 80's. Still try one session a season.
Last year i fished an afternoon and had mirrors of 19lb and 22lb and lost a 20+ Common although the Common was hooked in the Pec from what i could see.
All these fish came off the top.

Alot of fish did go walkies but the fish in there were mainly introduced shall we say!!

I think from what i've seen, the reduced number of fish had increased the average weight of others present.

Pukker little water i've enjoyed fishing. Must fish a session this year!

Blimey Rich, is the quarry not being kind to you this year! Only ever had one from Thorndon....18lb common either late 80's or v early 90's.....from the dam on a semolina base flavoured with aniseed oil and a dacron D rig..........Shhhhhh!!!!
Biggest fish back then was about 25lb and it was council controlled, ie day ticket on the bank. No idea now, probably the best ayto find out iss to turn up and start fishing. By the way the walk back seems a lot longer than the walk down, that hills a [censored]. Let me know how you get on.

No its not. new girlfriend = less time. Even though she doesn't mind being woken at 5am for a day session (fishing).
I've got the autumn on there anyway. I was just wondering what the place was like nowadays, being that I haven't been over there for nearly 20 years.

Loads of deep silt, marginal reeds loads of carp to catch!

It's being fished hard at the moment by two old boys that think they are the nuts.

Ditto, 21.08 Mirror off the top, dumpy little thing too, but much appreciated nonetheless.

I know it used to hold a low 30, but like you Rich, I aint been over for a good 15 years or so now. http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Is it still run as a council day ticket, strictly no nights?

"Is it still run as a council day ticket, strictly no nights? "

Yeah right! The only thing that closes at night is the car park

According to the ever unreliable 'Fishing Waters in Essex', its still day ticket on the bank.

I remember seeing a carp world article where someone fished there succesfully in the winter. Might have a look in the late autumn. Apparently there is still a normal close season on it.

Day ticket run by Brentwood council. They stopped fishing on Weald park to this will prbably follow.
When i last fished it it was £7 a rod with no half day consession.
You can only fish sunrise to sunset.
Pukker little water with from what i've seen a few 20's to be had.
I did hear some of the Weald fish ended up in but who knows?
