Now the football season's back, the weekends that I fish and don't go to games, I miss match of the day. So on Saturday I went to dixons and shelled out £100 on a little 5" lcd tv, It's superb, I'm fishing with it this weekend but so far I've taken it to places and always had a good reception. If anyone's in the market for one, it's made by a company called maxim and will run off mains, batteries or in my case, a powerpack.

I bought a sexy little 7" LCD widescreen tv from John Lewis 2 years ago for the same footy related reasons . . .£200 at the time, the whole lot fits nicely into a little wychwood lead pouch . . .the remote control is 'essential' for those long winter nights . . .! Unfortunately, it now seems you can pick up a very similar model for £50. . .

Cheers, Belch

Sorry, no links to Ebay allowed chaps..

Belch, what are they like just off normal batteries?

Belch
09-08-2005, 10:05
. . .dunno m8, I've never used normal batteries. . .

The widescreen LCD I've got does take batteries, but as I only use it on longer sessions (48 hrs plus) , I tend to take my power pack with me . . .The power pack holds 18ah of juice, the drain on this tv is about 1ah. . .Bascially, my power pack will easily last a 72 hr session . . .that's 6 hours of channel 5 soft porn a night, more than enough for any true winter blanker !!!!

Cheers, Belch

Can someone PM me the model number and other details about a decent little TV for fishing.

Thanks http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

. . .Roadstar LCD7269TTN . . .

7" widescreen is tarty I know, however this model is under 1" thick . . .some of the smaller 4:3 tv's are actually a lot deeper and wider . . .

Cheers, Belch

Griffy, mine came from either currys or dixons but isn't on their site. It's made by maxim, has a 5" LCD screen and is £99.99. Comes with all the bits, fag lighter lead, mains lead etc and has a single button to quickly self tune wherever you are. Quality is great.

Mine's 4:3 and is still mega thin, guess the choice is yours griffy but it seems me and belch are both happy with ours.

I fished last weekend and the picture, although in the middle of nowhere was astonishing, just like through my sky dish at home. Even found out that it's got to be digital as I was picking up sky news and sky sports news clearly. Match of the day on saturday night while the rods were out, what more could a bloke ask for! http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Blue, I'll have a look on the net mate, if not can you wait til monday? If you can get to dixons I think its the only 5" maxim tv they do but I don't think it's on their site.

Might have beemn a fluke griffy but I definitely had both sky news and sky sports news and don't think they'll come through terrestrial or analogue or whatever it's called.

that is a bit weird, seeing as they are only carried by digital platform providers and are not free-to-air.

Maybe the carp in the lake you were fishing have a Sky Subscription, and you were just getting the overspill signal http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

For all you lads asking for links to the Maxim site, I had heard that W.H.Smith's were knocking these out around £80 a couple of month's ago (may be worth a look there.

MX 11-48 5" TFT colour tv/monitor for those who asked. Very handy, even had it in the boot of my car at a wedding do on saturday so me and the lads didn't miss MOTD!

Sorry. They do a smaller one for sub £200. It is the business though. You can get Cbeebies!! http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mark, Have you got one? I'd be very interested in this. Digital on the bank would be fantastic http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Markoncarp
22-08-2005, 15:27
Nah... But im thinking about it. Also considering an Archos PVP. Allow you to watch anything that you've recorded from sky etc as well as films that you have {COUGH} downloaded..

Belch
22-08-2005, 15:33
I'm peed off now . . .that baby looks the nuts . . .CBeebies, John Wilson and europorn . . .result

On a more serious note, the Digital thing is worth thinking about. Can't remember when the deadline is, but eventually the analogue signal will be switched off, rendering all oldskool telly's impotent . . .

Cheers, Belch
