2 questions.

1. Is it worth spending £45 per rod refinishing a set of 4 year old hand built rods? I ask because I understand that, over time and with use rods lose some of their power and action (maybe someone could confirm this, so far it is only hear-say from people who think they know everything but often don't!) To me, an average fisherman who rarely casts to the horizon, they feel fine.

2. Can anyone recommend a good rod refinisher/rebuilder.

that depends on what rods you are considering rebuilding mate, and if you like them.

From personal experience I would say that yes a rods action does change over time. I have some Diawas that are about 6 or 7 years old and they have got softer, but to be honest I only ever really notice it when Im using them at their maximum loading and I find that I cant punch out a lead like I used to be able to. During normal use they dont seem to have changed that much, a bit softer when a fish is under the rod tips maybe.

So I guess that if you are not unhappy with the action they now have, and it still suits the style of fishing you do, then there isnt any point in spending the money.
