whatare your thoughts on the trakker big snooze sleeping bag?? any good?

is it thick enough and warm enough to use in the winter? or would you need a bedchair cover?

or would you recommend spending the extra £60 for a peachskin big z?

Hi Mate

I bought one for my cousin for crimbo. He used it for the first time this weekend and reckoned he was snug as a bug. Looking at it I reckon id need a cover with it as well. I use the Chub triple layer and need a thermal cover with it, its similar thickness to the trakker.

I have got the Trakker big Z which I think is similar. Its a brilliant bag. It keeps me warm down to minus millions. The only problem I have is the size of the bag when its packed. Its enormous. Its almost a trip on the barrow on its own. You can't pack it in the bed and carry it in one go. Best thing is to find a shop selling one and go and have a look at the size of it in its stuff sack. As for warmth EXCELLENT !!

For the price theres no better on the market,my mate who i fish with now and again is a ex marine, and he knows good kit when he see,s some,in his words its gucci!

Has the Big Z got the sleaves on it to hook onto the top and the bottom of your bed chair ?

05-01-2004, 17:38
No it hasn,t seb,but it doesn,t bother me,the amount of bags ive ruined with ties and sleeves on trying to get out of them in the middle of the night, they always rip!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

05-01-2004, 17:43

I've got the big snooze, absolute terriers testicles. Warm as toast whatever the weather throws at it.
As stated, it is big when packed, but when I am barrowing all my gear about, I actually carry mine on my back like a rucksack, it's light enough not to cause any strain.

Got one too, totally impressed, you can't do better for £40. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I've got one too and i think that it's pretty good. Used it in late December where there was ice in the margins in the morning and it was still quite warm. However i was using the thermal cover for it at the same timeand you could definately tell if it slipped off your feet. For the money it's good value although it's a shame about the quality of the zip, which is a pain to do up on mine.

Why do you zip up your fishing leave it undone straight out the bag should you get a run..

Got the wychwood bag its is good no problems.. Mate has the Big Z and loves it

....note that the hooded top that locates the bag over the bedchair on some of the Trakker bags, don't go too well with the 3 legged bedchairs & you will need to modify the bag slightly.....or take the third leg off?!

...this goes for the Peach skin definately.

06-01-2004, 22:46
Fair point Si, but luckily the Snooze doesn't have the hood (well mine doesn't anyway)
I have though, sewn some little ties onto the head and foot of it, so I can tie it to my bedchair.

Hi Simon
tell me how that works mate as I have used the peachskin since it came out on JJC three leg bedchair and had no problems.

07-01-2004, 19:38
....a mate of mine has just bought a new one....maybe you have an older version?

...where the locating hood fits over the top end of the chair it effectively folds the third leg flat because it is a bit on the long side. Not explained very well, but hopefully you get the picture?

Has anyone got the big mother

07-01-2004, 20:10
As an alternative to the Trakker bag, you could look at the Nash Snug Bug. Almost identical spec and likewise the price.

As much as it shames me to admit it i own one, and i'm pleasantly surprised with it.
