The mixture of RR is one great mistery, but i believe it has salt in it, as well as many other taste improving products. Don't worry about overdoing the salt in your bolie, because salt is a taste enhancer. I myself used about 10 percent robin red in my bait together with 3 percent salt. The fish loved it, that is for sure. I also fished the bait with less salt, but take rates went up when I highered the salt level.

SALT THE MOST UNERESTIMATED CARP ADDITIVE!!!

RR is no mystery and salt (NaCl) is widely recognised.... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

carp regulate the amount of salt in their bodys.. an 'overdose' could lead to dehydration and death...

Apples,

But what percentage is an overdose???? I've used salt till 5 percent of my total ingredients and I don't believe it harmed the fish in any situation!

Pete,

Howcome RR is no mistery, do you know the exact mixture, this is the best kept secret of Haiths, otherwise everyone was making their own RR.

Add more.. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gifRR. on its own even at 20% of the bait mix works better with more.
steve...
p.s. allow for rapid dilution... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A carp needs to keep its own salt level higher than the salinity of the water its in so the higer the salt in the water the more salt it will need to ingest.

Which also means if it can detect the salinity of its surounding water it should also detact bait with salt in more easly i would guess.?

So maybe the salt is a good attractor to them and should be added at a high rate for hook baits.?

The exact make up of Robin Red is of no importance whatsoever, it is what attracts carp within it that is of interest, that is three items..... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
