28-11-2003, 15:09
Come on then folks - it's Friday, we're all at work wishing we weren't:

How about "what're the best Carpy vids"?

It's stocking filler time!!

28-11-2003, 15:16
ooh, this _is_ an intersting post, think i'll reply with lots of suggestions...

28-11-2003, 15:29
A passion for angling. All of them especially the carp ones http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

28-11-2003, 15:31
Watched a few in my time, but never seen a good one yet.
Scripts are often dire, some are just adverts....moan....moan....blah, blah, blah.
Just my opinion.
Anyone recommend one thats worth the money. Having said that i'll be picking up the Fox Pool DVD this weekend. I'll see what that ones like. Hoping for good things.

28-11-2003, 15:32
Good call. In at number one!!

28-11-2003, 15:40
Even the worst ones ive ever seen are still better than sitting through an episode of Eastenders, and for that they are priceless.

Having been layed up in bed for four days this week ive rewatched a lot of old videos. Although full of plugs I enjoyed both the Korda efforts, and if you want to really understand line twist then get hold of a copy of the old carpwise vids, no1 or 2 I think, Rick Gardner explains it spot on.

28-11-2003, 15:41
Doh.....forgot about Passion. Now that was good.

28-11-2003, 15:46
the yateley video, a must for any serious carper, order from YAC. simply the best carp vid available, buy it or miss out big time

28-11-2003, 15:49
Yeah keeping an eye out for Fox Pool one too! Let us know what you think mate!

Car Park vid is impressive - the stuff dreams are made of!!

Just a shame the quality is a bit grainy on some of the shots, but fair play to them for the effort they put into making it! Close season footage of back bay is interesting - would have been nice to have captured a bit of the yately spirit/swims/characters too, but then i always want everything!!!

What about the Tel/Jacko ones - or are they a bit "how to"??

28-11-2003, 15:55
Clive and Malc on the original Richworth Videos, amazing !!

28-11-2003, 15:58
Yateley uncovered, far and away the best vid EVER!!! Buy it now! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Ballys Carp!Carp!Carp! is also excellent, makes you want to stick branches to hang off on your sofa, really atmospheric.
Tel and Jacko 2 is also very good, fascinating stuff.

28-11-2003, 16:00
Tel 'n Jacko....Mmmmmm.
First one was soooo bad i never got the second one. The script on the first one was appaling in places.....embarrasing to watch at times. Whats more the second one is stupidly expensive on DVD. You could get a major blockbuster cheaper, and i'd imagine the blockbuster costs a tad more to make.

28-11-2003, 16:01
Wicked - keep em coming guys!

Where can one get their hands on these older legends?

28-11-2003, 16:05
Got to agree with you on Tel 'n Jacko...

The second ones a classic, especially when they admit that they sneaked a session in without the camera and caught most of the fish OFF AIR. Whats the point of the DVD then? Pointless, the search for the big blue one, which turns out not to exist and a load of not filmed fish. rubbish.

28-11-2003, 16:06
Harefield hauling; now theres a classic http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

28-11-2003, 16:09
Clive & Malc vids; god i rember every one went out to try & get hold of the ever so flash optonic box that clive was using
Pukka stuff

28-11-2003, 16:17
Hmmm The end result!! http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

28-11-2003, 16:20
what were the titles of these Richworth ones?

28-11-2003, 16:29
dont ask me something like that http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif this would have been around 1987 or something like that; i cant rember where i have left my car today !!!!
Have a word with Richworth as they may be able to help
for there time they where very good; seem to rember quite a few of the old Savay lumps on there

28-11-2003, 16:57
the richworth vids, great stuff, i always remember the bit when one of them gets a run, quite a novelty at the time and reels in a huge scaly lump. also recall a catchy tune always playing in the back ground.

28-11-2003, 17:22
Ah yes, one can only site back and admire the generic electronic rock accompanying any carp footage on tv or video. At least TRY something different... a touch of Vivaldi to set the scene, spodding to Scott Joplin, and some early Neil Young to liven up the scrap. Let's introduce some culture to this all too prosaic pastime.

I remember fondly the 'phone conversation' Tel and Jacko share in the 1st vid... good lord, they must watch back and laugh!

28-11-2003, 18:08
"Caught in Time" the new DVD from Hugh Miles feat. Chris Yates. Its beautifully shot on a lovely estate lake with a mad angler catching some lovely fish.

28-11-2003, 19:21
The Yately vid is the nuts.
Saw a blinding NEW vid last night, with loads of undertwater foottage, very interesting stuff, would you have thought a tench could be hooked then shake the hook out with just a few bleeps on your buzzer!!!
You should see how tight a spod full of bait lands on the bottom!!!!
Being released this weekend.

A Winner!

road lake 2003 the first 3 months awsome great backing tracks "im on the road again" some of the secrets revealed!

29-11-2003, 15:49
I'm about to acquire the original Yateley Yahoo Crew vid and mighty fine it is too so I am led to believe....

Can't beat a bit of Yatesy though and his ridiculous squeaky voice!

29-11-2003, 15:50
Forgot to say have been informed the great Richie is on it. It should be the bollox can't wait for it to arrive...

29-11-2003, 16:51
in my opinion, and i guess, this goes for thousnads of anglers out there, you cant beat the passion for angling vids. it inspired me over ten years ago and it still inspires me today! ad together the intrepid piscators double act of bob james and chris yates together with the simply breathtakeing photography, and you have the best set of angling videos ever made, they simply cant be matched!

29-11-2003, 17:36
Get your hands on the new "Caught in Time" vid it was shot by the same guy & feats. Yatsey. Its as good as Passion and better still it`s the first of what is to be a series.

29-11-2003, 18:31
'Off top and down below' by Kevin Maddocks i seem to recall being pretty impressive. He or someone dives his lake, good catfish footage and plenty of carp.

29-11-2003, 19:19
I must admit i dont watch alot of telly but if im indoors not fishing i will usually put a vid on, i think the tel n jacko ones are great, i like the first one right at the beginning where they are pretending to be on the fone, and on the second tel n jacko one lee is taking the mick out of terrys legs now thats what i call funny. I think that the fox ones are a giant advert the same as the korda ones but not AS bad.

Passion for angling takes the creme though, especially the carp ones

29-11-2003, 21:35
ive got it phil.it is mate you wont be dissapointed.
classic. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

29-11-2003, 21:54
Thats the one .... Carp Fever 4 I believe ... my tape snapped but I remember it had some really good stuff on there including a hooked carp and how your baits and rigs really present underwater

29-11-2003, 23:03
if you like that one
check out the new korda one i got one at the show awesome underwater scenes http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

01-12-2003, 09:30
Re: Road Lake 2003 vid: anyone know where you can get this one?

What's meant to be on this fox pool vid then? (The description on their website hasn't been updated yet!).

01-12-2003, 09:40
Oh I've got that one too will have to dig it out not seen it for eons... http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

01-12-2003, 09:44
Not heard of a Road Lake video?????? Unless its home footage I doubt it!
Fox Pool is absolutely superb, loads of informative "in session" tips from 2 of the best. Lots of action including the current lake record caught live for the camera's.
The its got to be the new Korda vid, stunning, so educational, everyone and I mean everyone will learn from this one.

01-12-2003, 09:47
someone told me about the Road lake Vid at the Sandown show - its supposed to be footage of the first 3 months i think? http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

01-12-2003, 10:43
It's all gone video mad!

- re Road Lake vid: anyone know anything more about this little gem?! Bet there'd be some crackers on there!

01-12-2003, 10:52

01-12-2003, 12:55
passion for angling - still some of the most awesomely made fishing viewing ever. beautifully shot.
odd's cp vid - saw the whole thing come to fruition over the season and the best collection of awesome fish on one vid have seen.
lee jackson and max cottis at metz - so appallingly bad it's hilarious. catching a couple of pasties and kois with the real Alan Partridge commentating. how they didn't hit him.

01-12-2003, 13:05
One of the finest videos without doubt is ASHLEA POOL introduced by John Baker awesome footage of this beautiful water and its historic fish. Anyone who worries about fishing in weed should watch this!!

01-12-2003, 17:18

Apparently... re video of Underwater Love:

"Tackle Box in Kent have it in stock and for sale, as do Specialist Tackle in Romford. The video is 4 hours of Danny fishing at Horseshoe Lake with loads of close up underwater footage of carp and tench picking up rigs etc... Unmissable. It will be the biggest selling fishing video ever! Get one".

Said a spokesman for the company :-) Got one on order already!

God that's sad: but I like fish.

Passion For Angling! I have two sets and there worth money now!

Quotes from redmire legends:

Bob...Bob...Ive got a quite good one on here!

Blown Out Of The Water By That Carp! Mummys Looking a bit concerned! (on the coots)

A great piece of filming, even better when you have actually been there and can picture everything! I even went out on the punt in true yatesy style!

11-12-2003, 20:21
M8 you can still get `Passion` for £25 brand new direct from Mr Miles himself. Dont believe what you see on E-Bay in regards of value.

What we really need is for Hugh to get the original film transfered to DVD then it will look and sound alot better still (yes that is possible!)

Well, those of you who know me will know my answer already. http://www.rmcangling.co.uk/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

A Passion For Angling
I was brought up on them, I remember when my mum and dad used to run a shop, there was this old chappy who used to come in and one day he heard I was going into fishing, so he gave me a few tips and one day brought in the entire A Passion For Angling series and he said to me "here's some special video's for you to watch, I'm sure you'll enjoy them" Ever since I sat and watched the very first one, I was totally hooked on fishing and wanted to be just like Chris Yates and have adventures like him.
