View Full Version : Back after 7 year break.

Hi guys.
1st post on here quick bit about me.
I'm 24 a bricklayer from East Yorkshire
I picked up a rod for the first time in 7years about 4 weeks ago:)
Decided the best place to start would be we're I left all them years ago.
Same pond after the same fish, it's quite a hard water to get carp from.
It's not a huge pond and there's only 6 shy carp in there, I'm the only person to catch them (well 4 out of the 6).
So I went after the other 2 fish.
Last Monday I caught this

24lb exact on the scales, the picture is deceiving as the guy taking the photo didn't bend down to take it. Uncaught as it still has skirt in its mouth. So just 1more to catch the 'gostie'
Then yesterday evening I was floating some bread under the tree and a carp sucked the bread in from under the surface, I wasn't fishing from a peg just a 5ft gap between 2 trees, I knew I was going to have to just hit and hold if I got a take so I went in with heavy tackle, 20lb braid and a large fox hook.
Anyway after 5mins of trying to hold onto this carp and pulling it out from under trees this happens

I was devastated, I felt like crying. I threw some more bread in and sat ont the opposite bank for half hour re tying my rod, then noticed bread been took of the surface in the bush.
I run around the bank crawled into position and dropped the baited hook into the water.
Up come a huge carpy mouth and took the bread, I momentarily waited and struck into the fish.
The water erupted as the carp tried to get into the submerged trees 5mins of pulling each other I finally got the fish over the net.

21lb on the scales, one I caught 7 or so years ago at 16lb.
Just one more to catch now, words got around about the 2 carp so I'm holding off for a while to the hype dies down on the bank.
And on a foot note neither fish was caught easily, probably 20hrs of watching and baiting up over the last 2and a half weeks.
Thanks for reading.

The weights are spot on, if i was lieing id only be kidding myself.
