I believe it's not so much the weather that's driving him away, more the sorry state of UK angling in his eyes in the light of various predation threats.

69 year old reasonably wealthy man declares country has gone down the pan and moves abroad to better weather. Quelle surprise.

I hope I'm able to do exactly the same thing at his age.

if that's the real reason then we might as well all give up, isn't he supposed to be heavily invovled with the PAG? If someone as high profile as him is giving up on it then that really is a blow IMO

I think he's been pee'd off with predation and 'do-gooders' for the last 15 years or so !! That and water extraction etc.

But the main reason for him leaving is weather related, too many wet winters and cold river banks causing issues for both himself and his dodgy hip, and Jo.

Spoke to him only 20 minutes ago and he's looking forward to the move and has already purchased some nice fish, good luck to him after many years of good service to UK, and international fishing.

i for one will miss him and i think he's right to go if his health is bad and his wife's health aint to good. i wonder if he will make any more tv programes? or will make his living through guided fishing trips or just retire?

Considering he's always so chipper, that video is really sad to see.
