Anything citronella based, plus i think there's an Avon (ding dong) cream that does the trick too.

JRC mozzi mesh door cover works very well.
DEET, 50% and above works well. Mozzis will still land on you but won't bite and quickly fly off.
Avon SSS smells nice but does nothing to repel mozzis - fallacy surrounding the rumour that special forces were using it in Asia...
Don't even think about using coils inside a bivvy.

We've just had the wettest summer in 100 years.

All those stagnant puddles for mozzis to breed in, damp for slugs and snails to breed in, spiders to breed 'cos of all the insects on their webs etc.

but the good news is the wild black berries are massive and plentiful, this year, recently picked a couple of kilos while carping:thumbs:

I use the mozzy coils from johnson ross, cant remember the brand. Think they are 3 quid per 10pcs. I light one and put on the side of the brolly. Works brilliant!!!

Max strength jungle formula for me, spray it all over any exposed flesh and often spray it over the doors and mesh of the mozzi front.

Get some vitimins B tablets or eat marmite regularly, for the mozzies.

As for slugs kill a couple outside and the rest will home in on them or leave some beer out in a saucer.

I did kill a few slugs and must admit they did home onto them!

Just leave a little in the cans and toss them to one side for the night, better still we use it to collect them and spod them out the next morning.

close mesh b4 dark and when you enter bivvy put your head torch on,shine it to the roof of your bivvy, the remaining mozzys inside will move to the light, then squash um with ur cap.or flyspray inside and leave 10 mins b4 going to bed.

do not spray deet on your bivvy as it will eat it faster than the mozzies eat you .

cotswold outdoors sell a 30% , 50% and 100% deet repelant , its an oily pump spray and is extremely effective they also do a 30odd % cream .
if you are having probs in the bivvy they also do a large pump spray that is suitable for clothing rucksacks and tents .

i tried the avon skin so soft and ended up smelling like a tarts handbag but it didnt stop the critter biting me and the mozzie coils are ok for use outside but the smoke if inhaled will give you a thumping sore head and can make you feel quite ill .

be warned though .......deet is nasty stuff and can irritate the skin ...i dont have probs with it myself as i have skin like oily boot leather .

I use the Avon Skin So Soft, last time i went i was wearing shorts and missed my ankle, which was the only place i got bitten. I also use the coils and have one on a dish just inside the bivvy door which works well.
