Apart from koi sources, the only place I've found is ccmoore - the "amino green" pellet contains spirulina.

Been using it for about a year.

Do you chaps reckon spirulina is an effective addition to a base mix? I have been playing around with my own mixes for a few years but never actually used this stuff. Have used the cheaper alterntive Kelp at about 5% but cant say weather it adds anything to a mix apart from the supposed vitmains it contains?

Its a worthy addition for me, as it contains something other than minerals/vitamins...you have to really look into it though to see.

I appreciate that JC but i do wonder if its marketing hype, does it really improve an already decent home made bait. In other words does a carp find a bait with this in it more attrcative than if it wasnt?

Spirulina is high in tryptophan, which isn't marketing hype - just a very good reason to use it.

Obviously it's people's personal choice as to whether they think its worth using or not. But it works for me, in conjunction with other attractors and amino sources.

Just had a session using 3 different baits. A Home made with spirulina added a shop brought ( Shoreline Supreme Skunk oil ) and another home made...the only one i caught with was the Spirulina, this got me a couple of Carp a couple of Bream and a good size Roach all on 20mm baits, give's the impression they must of really wanted it.Both the other baits were untouched.Location of bait perhaps......but i think it could of been the difference....Perhaps!!

I have used it for years to feed my tropical fish (large cichlids), which are very fussy ******s to say the least. Within the first month of using it, the colours of the fish improved dramatically as did activity and spawning behaviour.
