Springer power!!

can't take mine fishing because he is trained to retrieve and wants to retrieve every thing that lives and breaths down the lakes. He even jumped in the lake after some spawning roach on a training session a couple of weeks ago.
Since he saw a couple of pike in the lake a while back he has become obsessed with what lives under the surface.

Hope you have better luck with Finley

Nice one Apples - the one above is my favourite, as I love the way Piquet Jnr is obscured by the exhaust gasses of Kovalainen in the background.

Have you any tips on where to set up and see/photo them sliding around now that TC is banned, as I've blagged tickets to go down there for the race weekend?

1D Mk2n.. or if Im felling flush a MK3...

The MKIIn is a great piece of kit; I procured a year old example late last year and really enjoyed the usability/ruggedness of the pro body and found the 1.3 crop factor the perfect balance. The increase in focus points, accuracy and speed was substantial when compared with my 30d and along with the advancement in FPS made for a worthwhile upgrade IMO. I did however find that the controls were not as intuitive to use as my current body but that was probably down to the fact that I was going backwards down the manufacturing/design timeline. The showstopper for me though was that the example I had purchased suffered badly from banding issues at ISO 400 and above; so be careful to make sure this isn't an issue on any example you are looking to buy. Luckily I returned it and got my money back so am now saving for either a MKIII or 400 F2.8 prime.

"Have you any tips on where to set up and see/photo them sliding around now that TC is banned, as I've blagged tickets to go down there for the race weekend?"

Dont know if you know Silverstone well so I may be teaching Granma to suck eggs..

Friday practice will be your best bet.. its a fast circuit and once the rubber has been laid down they will just grip and go...

Id say your best bet is Abbey into Farm.. Stand either at the top of the seating which allows you to track them going too hot into Abbey... or as you walk into Farm from Bridge, as you go through the 'gate' to the seating, sit just inside the 'railings/scaffold' with your back to the fence, trackside. They were sliding about putting the power down coming out of Abbey.. and ****ing (**edited.. Kocking**) an inside wheel as they went over the kerb into Farm..

Other than that Brooklands is always good for a off.. but its a long way from where us punters can stand.. and Bridge corner.. but good luck trying to track em and get AF lock :)

Luffield is a photo banker.. if a little slow...

FWIW.. Exit of Stowe.. entry and exit of Club.. and exit of Copse are my favorites for photos..

If you get the chance over the weekend, get over to the Maggotts/ Becketts corners.. not much use for photos, but its about as close as you can get to the track and a superb place to see just how fast the cars are...

Have fun.. Ill be working.. :(

Not anymore Medway, they've been blown. The new 'ones' to have are The Tackle Box carrier bags, as there're a nice dark green colour and made from good quality plastic. These properties make for good camouflage and provide a rustle free noise when they are hanging from the tree and the wind starts to blow, or when the mice/rats have learned to climb into the tree so that they can search through your rubbish.

Yes the daisie was done by mounting the camera on a tripod zooming in and focussing then zoom out set the exposure length to about the time it takes to do a steady full zoom (i used a 18-70mm lens).
Press the shutter and zoom.
If you end up with the shutter open and you have finished zooming it doesnt quite work properly you need to get the timing spot on.

Cheers chaps.

Thicky doesnt even get that energetic when hes turking let alone anything else.

One of my all time favorite Cars.

I was at Brands Back in 1988 when Martin Brundle won the 1000km in the No1 SCJag, I had pit passes for that day and sat with him for 15mins early in the morning, just him and my mate... He did say that he WILL win it as long as the car will run to the end and he did, great fella. I think Wallance and the Norg fella was also driving it that day as well..Nielson?

Some great picts Apples

They are amazing. How did you get the timing right? Doesnt even look like a slow shutter speed jobby? The water is not at all hazy! I only ever managed to get shots of lightening by cutting frames from a video. Even they looked totally rubbish.

Agreed, some cracking pictures there.

The EXIF information shows that a Canon 350d and 400d being the camera's that were used. I'd be interested in what lenses were used though.

Cheers, as Sam said, i used to have a Canon 350d but changed to a 400d about a year ago. I use the standard 17-85mm kit lens, a Sigma 30mm f:1.4 prime lens (which is superb and probably took most of those shots), a Canon 70-300mm IS, and a Sigma 50mm macro lens.

Have they been airbrushed at all?

No not at all, I ran them through photoshop to just sharpen up the background slightly and convert them to jpegs, thats it, the rest was done in the camera.

Cheers, I thought i was a bit mad getting into the water with a load of expensive kit at 7am but it was worth it. Although I think the shots wouldve of been slightly better if I had of had a polarizing filter, it would taken the glare of the water a bit.

I don't know, I think the glare adds to the flowing power of the river

Just cropping the bottom of would make a huge difference. I love the float, well shotted down and looking like its going to slide under at any moment. It would of been good if you had twitched the line to make a few ripples around the float. You captured the amosphere of it all.
