Hi Matt you know the carp swim up and down the river so location is key. You can always try pre baiting a swim or two. A good spot for me is behind evonano theatre it has alway done me proud.

I have only ever had chub from behind there but thanks for the information anything i can do to specifically target the carp rather than the chub from there

Will have to try out all of these stretches i think any baits that work well or is this a secret as i just keep seeming to hook the chub on what i use.

As with most River Carping, it's all down to location and pre-baiting....

Try having a look down by the old stoke mill building on the woking road and the dead water behind the hotel on the corner..........

When i were a laddy growing up in Godalming we used to have a few out of Cattershal lane boathouse in the main river there and the two back water bits, one is called the Ducky....

Walk that stretch further up towards the town centre and there are loads more spots that used to produce,,,,

Also when in the town stretch there is Philips Memorieal, pukka place at night for the girls :norty: but that stretch again used to hold a few

The wey through guildford is also infested with tons of crayfish,so bear that in mind when choosing tactics.

Absolutely rigid with them - However, crayfish curry is delicious!

Yeah i know they are a pain there all over the place, they seem to take any bait you put on, if its on the bottom they will have it.

Matt

Here`s a tip, stands up on any river with a few carp in it that runs through urban areas.

Fish the spots where Joe Public feeds the ducks and swans, wait til after dark and make sure it`s too deep for the swans. Ducks can be a pain but you can get up to 20 of them in a carp sack and release them when you go home........ or not:lol:
