With the annual Yateley Fish In only a couple of months away, I had been scratching my head for an idea to contribute some extra fund raising to the weekend.
Done with running, (far to much like hard work!) I have come up with a more relaxed "musical" challenge and hopefully add an extra twist to this years event.

I have gathered together some musicians from the angling community, I'll be on the fiddle (so to speak!) and I have persuaded Keith Arthur (S&F patron) to sing for us.

The idea is simple......we will perform the Waterboys theme tune to Keith's popular radio show "Fishermans Blues" (Sats & Suns, 0600-0800hrs, Talksport 1089/53am), live on his programme Sun Aug 9th and then drive to Yateley to perform it once again in Yateley Car Park around raffle time!!

We all got together for the first time this evening, not sure how it's going to turn out and you may wish to delay your appreciation until you've heard us play of course!

Until that time, all support for this challenge is truly welcome via www.justgiving.com/fishermansblues (http://www.justgiving.com/fishermansblues)

Kindest regards

Ruth

With just over a month to go to the Yateley Fish In, and the weekly "Fishermans Blues" rehearsals are starting to pay off.......with Glynn Gomersall on the drums, Nigel Bax on bass, Roy Naylor on guitar and me on the fiddle, it's coming together slowly!! With the lively Keith Arthur on vocals (suprisingly good btw!) it will certainly be an "interesting" cover version of the Waterboys favourite!!

Be sure to tune in to Talksport (1089/1053am) between 0600-0800hrs Sun Aug 9th and feel free to register any appreciation for our effort directly to www.justgiving.com/fishermansblues (http://www.justgiving.com/fishermansblues) or by dropping a donation into the collecting box at YAC.

And for those of you attending the annual Stoney fish in, we have been learning an extra special tune just for you! So I look forward to seeing you all in August... if not before!!

Thanks

Only 4 rehearsals left to the Stoney weekend, and we decided to invite Mr Stone and Tug down for a sneak preview of this weeks practice!! It was a bit nervy having an audience but we're getting there slowly and we all had a good laugh as always.

Thanks to them both for taking the time to join us, I only hope we can add a bit more to an already impressive annual total raised at Yateley and hopefully raise the profile of Stoney and Friends as a result. We hope that the Fish In will appear on Tight Lines Aug 21st. Special thanks to Keith Arthur (patron S&F) for agreeing to the idea and providing priceless publicity opportunities...........and buying a tambourine (Gooner Red of course!)

Please show your support for the members of the band and help Macmillan Cancer Support help those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

four? All five were awesome. I get the impression i have not heard the last of Stoney's friends. Was bloody awesome.

And I know this might be mad, sad, gay (whatever you may throw at me), but the second track you played actually made me cry a little. remembering my mum. Glad I had my sunglasses on. Loved every minute Ruth.

You and stoney are legends.
