"Paul The Bailff " has kindly offered his services for a day out Wildfowling with him.

With all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support. "Stoney & Friends" Committee

Thanks Allan.

Just to give a bit more info on what to expect.

The day's Wildfowling (duck shooting), to be taken in January 09 as the season ends on 31st, will be spent on a salt marsh on the Essex coast just north of Southend on Sea.

It will involve a morning flight from first light, followed by decoying using plastic imitation ducks on the incoming tide alongside a big tidal creak and will end with an evening flight at dusk.

Novices are welcome, with a gun, cartridges, safety briefing and quarry recognition provided for those that have not shot before. Those that have shot before are welcome to bring their own gun although cartridges must be of a non toxic alternative to lead.

The expected quarry will be Teal, Mallard and possible Canadian Geese. Sorry no chance to vent your frustrations on Tufties :D.

I will contact the successful bidder to arrange a suitable date for the excursion to suit tidal conditions and hopefully weather although that cannot be booked. Clothing wise, usual waterproof fishing attire will suffice, with wellies or waders and it's a great chance for the REALTREE nuts to use their kit in the manner it was designed for :D.

Please post all bids on this thread and pm Stoney with full names and addresses. The successful bidder will be required to send a cheque directly to Stoney, made out to 'Macmillan Cancer Support'. The closing date will be Thursday 8th Jan, as the 10th looks good for the tide.

Had a fantastic day, awsome place, stunning sunrise. not a huge amount of birds about but managed to shoot in anger at a few. The birds however survived intact this time. something I will deffo do again. Paul is a ledgend, and sorted me out with a few birds which I breasted and cooked with an orange and lemon sauce. Was lovely.

The mud was awesome :)

No Mark, you got the wrong end of the stick. We'll be out on the marsh by 6:30am up to your knees in freezing mud for the morning flight, then out with the decoys on the incoming tide. That'll take us through until lunch time, when it's off to a local pub for lunch and then back out for the evening flight until it's too dark to see anything flying.

To be honest there were more birds about than when singy went. The heavy rain before singy's trip meant that a lot of ducks had moved out to flooded fields and ponds where as on Mark's trip the previous weeks snow and freeze up had forced the ducks back to the coast.
