Jan 17th & 18th. Horton Pike Event

Aug 7th, 8th & 9th Yateley Bash

Nov 15th Wraysbury Pike Fish-In

Well here we go lets see if this get us even more support:

We have a couple of extra goodies planned. Firstly we have been in talks with Simon Scott, and he has agreed to do a talk on his exploits whilst fishing on Wraysbury One, and here is the bonus, it will be held at Wraysbury One itself.

Date and Tickets will be announced soon.

Secondly we have an offer from TCarper (Mark Casper) to take an angler out fishing for a 24/48 hr session in his hotspots on the River Thames. This will be subject to an Auction and the fishing session will take place in the new 2009/10 season.

We are also have a few other things up our sleeves.

If anyone wants to add to this list of offers, please PM me only

As a few of you will already know, i very recently spent 6 weeks in hospital after being diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Phaeocromocytoma. Never been ill before, never been in hospital, just out of the blue blacked out one day. Very very luckily for me after thousands of tests on fri i was given the news that i had been praying for, my tumour is benine. (if there is someone up there thank you)

While i was in hospital i became good pals with a fella in the bed opposite me. He wasnt much older than me and because we worked in the same industry and were cooped up together 24-7 we became friends. Alfie had recently been diagnosed with throat cancer but although knowing eventually it would get him he was remarkably strong for his wife and young family and swore that the 2 years he could have would not be wasted, not a second. Within 2 weeks further tests had revealed that the cancer had spread badly and that Alfie could just have just a week to live. Distraught at how he would tell his young family, he kept himself together with strength and the help of the Macmillan nurses. Alfie died 3 weeks ago, through him i saw the most wonderful job that these trully wonderful people do. The admiration i have for them is unrivalled, which is why i made this offer to Stoney and friends who themselves do wonders for the Macmillan nurses through all your fundraising, but you dont need telling that.

Enough of that, what will you get if you win the auction? 48 hrs fishing on the Thames in the spot that these and many many others like them came from

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/thamescarper/thames29lb10oz.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/thamescarper/fish1.jpg

Well 24hrs there, if you dont catch (which you will LOL) we'll move to another spot couple of miles away where these and lots of others came from

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/thamescarper/Fish12.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/thamescarper/fish3.jpg

For another 24hrs. Both swims will be baited very heavily leading up to the trip, all bait for the trip along with all terminal tackle leads etc that you'll need will be provided. I'll sort any permissions you'll need. If your rods arnt up to 4-5 oz leads then i can also lend you some of mine suitable for the trip. So basically all you will have to bring is your bivvy and your bed, buzzers, rod licences and reels.
Think how good a cause it is and how much the knowledge of the whereabouts of those long dark scaley river ones could stand you in good stead in the future. You will be forced to sign the official secrets act LOL, but there will be nothing to stop you returning to the spots in the future with your own mates.
Thats gotta be worth a good few quid for a very good cause lads.

Great idea guys. How and when can we start to bid for it?

TCarper
15-12-2008, 20:15
Thanks Jamie, couple days with someone on the river will be enjoyable anyway, when the trips planned for is slap bang when the dark scaleys are there in numbers. Just hope it does raise a good sum.

TCarper
15-12-2008, 20:33
Thank you Davemac and Chef.

Nick, thinking was that the very best time for the trip to ensure the best results would be the beginning of next season. Think Stoney was thinking of doing the auction into next year so as theres not a massive wait between auction and trip.

Stoney will let you know when the auction will be

exkingsmeadchef
15-12-2008, 20:42
And lets keep this thread alive till then as the more people see it the better. I will see if Singy will put that link up as a sticky in the carp fishing side.

Well done mate. A heart breaking tale and as you say, one that makes you appreciate the good work Mcmillian do!

Unfortunatley I dont have anything to offer, so I'll continue to support Stoney and Friends through Bubbles, Yateley Bash etc...

Once again, well done mate...

TCarper
16-12-2008, 10:37
Thank you all.

Jimmy while i was in hospital mate i sat and read every page on this forum i think, certainly every page on this section. Your name pops up as much as the rest so i know how much you and all the others contribute to this wonderful cause. Feel bit bad that its taken something like the last few months for me to pull my finger out. Its so easy to get caught up in life and not know how it feels to at the drop of a hat, see everything sliding away. Has certainly changed my outlook on whats important in life.

Hopefully there will be two that really want it, to force the bids up a touch LOL

LOL, Dean you were unlucky mate, we shall rectify that one next year anyway. You and Jon Miller were both, unfortunate, Jon lost a very good fish and they just was'nt there when we went mate. If you remember though, after our trip i went back a few days later and had a shedfull LOL (sorry this was meant to make you feel better Dean).

Bream-king caught his then PB (anywhere), Singy and Bob both had lovely ones, Jon lost a lump and you were unlucky.

Things will be a bit diff for the winner, they will be going at the beginning of the season (prime time) when the fish are odds on to be there (they ALWAYS are) and as a fall back they will be taken to the OTHER golden place that none of you lot saw LOL. (although i did tell you all about the other spot i think)

Suppose i should tell you all who are intrested in bidding a few stats of what you could be in for if you win the auction.
Best ever trip in lets call it "The willow swim" saw me land 16 fish in two nights. Seven 20's two over 25lb. Other notable nights in this swim include four 20's in two hours. Lots of 6-7 & 8 fish hauls. Generally when the "bigger boys" are about its a one take a night job but normally this means a very good fish.
"Swim two" has also seen some fantastic hauls, generally they dont hang around this area for aslong as they do in "the willow" swim, but action is normally very fast and furious. Me and a good friend took six 20's and a rake of doubles in a morn from here one day, we'd spent two fishless nights in the willow swim, packed up at 5am, was fishing in swim 2 by 7am. By 1pm we'd had loads & left. I went back couple days later for couple of nights and had it right off.

TCarper
28-12-2008, 14:13

Not pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but boy did he make up for it in fighting qualities. 70+ yards of flatrodding on the intial run, could'nt keep up back winding, had to let go or was going to snap my line or my rod. Still have the scar on my hand from trying to regrab the spinning handle.

Wow even more impressive fish, I think you are making many people jealous with these lovely fish
Two questions TCarper

1) When does this auction start ?
2) Do anglers have to sign the Official Secrets Act ? LOL

Tight Lines

John

TCarper
12-01-2009, 22:20
I'd rather it doesn't make anyone jealous John. Rather it inspired a few to have a good go themselves. They are there for anyone to catch, no waiting lists on the rivers.

Q 1. Stoney is the man in charge of that John. He'll announce on here when the auction will start.

Q 2. It will be VERY much in the winner of the auctions own interests to keep stom. They will have access to them in future, and if they open their mouths, their only ruining their own future successes. That's what im relying on.

Yes i will have a copy of the official secrets act with me that will be signed before the winner gets anywhere near the river LOL

What a silly government one Mike?......... Pah mate.........

This is the Anglers official secrets act, a completley different document, far more in depth. That one you mention is like a Teletubbies annual compared to the Angler version. LOL

Thank you very much. Thats very generous of you Codpiece. There are some other auctions that need to be done before this one starts i think, theres one going at the moment for a cracking trip for two to the Ebro.

TCarper
13-01-2009, 09:57
LOL. A good choice there Dave and very very generous mate.

Its this one that does it for me. When times are hard, and blanks are often, lake or river, if i need inspiration, this photo always puts a smile back on my face. Words cant even describe what this fish was like on the bank to the eye. The three of us that saw it on the bank all agree the photo does'nt do it justice. It took the breath away. Its hard to describe but was different from any other fish ive had. Armour plate scales, was so wide, but not just across its back, but all the way down to its belly. Not an ounce of fat though, all solid. Had the top part of the curtain fully intact, which was like a tongue on a pair of trainers, thick, like leather. Jet jet black, going down to a deep bronze, but on the belly underneath was the most amazing deep red colour. Best fish ive had bar none IMO.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/thamescarper/fish1.jpg

TCarper
13-01-2009, 11:33
Yes mate, i know exactly what you mean Mark. The bottom pic was ovb a night shot, and the flash does'nt help for the colour, but also, that was a Sep/Oct capture. The pic where its all dark and lovely is an earlier in the year one. When they have been sunbathing in the summer sun. They get a nice tan in the clear water LOL

TCarper
13-01-2009, 11:41
And just to get you all who are intrested even more keen........

Theres at least two fish that ive seen again and again, year after year, that blow anything on these pages away.

Ive def lost one of them at least once, when a big fish that i had an epic battle with, came adrift after ploughing up and down the clear margins, would have smashed my English river pb.

Ive prob lost the other as well as due to the savage way they fight, every now and then one will come adrift in the weed.

Often not always, big lake fish fight more slow and plodding. Big river originals dont do this at all. They dont carry spare weight, its all muscle, normally with fins and tails to match. Will scare the life out of you, has done me, plenty of times. Think 30lb+ barbel in a flow

Maybe the auction winner will be the one that catches one of them?

Even if they don't during the trip, they will have the future skills and knowledge to do rather well for themselves on the river.

mate im sure this gonna go for a small fortune. cant wait to see the bidding commence! im gonna be ruthless. :D

LOL, thats what we like to hear mate.

Its worth it. There will be a future very small per season payment needed (nowt to do with me but i cant talk about on here) if they/you carry on fishing there in the future, which they/you will.

How much is X number of years Syndicate ticket?

How many Syndicates are full of jet black, unnamed fish where you can trully say you REALLY dont know what the next bite could be?

How much is my years and miles of walking the river ,my poor knees, all that blanking, all those sleepless nights suffering bream attacks, chub attacks, fishing duff areas........ to eventually find heaven worth? LOL (joke)

Such a VERY VERY worthy cause, i hope it raises as much as possible, which is why these pics are on these pages mate.

LOL, thinking was, that is where Allan can let anyone intrested (who does'nt want to scrol through all these pages) know exactly when the auction will start, without us lot posting pages of replies on here. And thats where the auction will take place to, it will be opened then i think

Its good news mate, it means it wont be long before you can bid.

Because the Thames trip wont act take place till June, and Stoney had some other generous offers in the pipeline, that needed to be sorted 1st, because they were for things taking place much earlier than June.

Not long now.

Oi anyway, you have to bid, i was coming round to the idea, you know the one.............. The broker, two faced, slut, etc, etc. LOL

If you win the auction, you will find out all you need to know, to smack them from whatever river or stretch of the Thames you want.

TCarper

Just a couple of other things i should probably mention for anyone intrested in going.

Really i should mention about boat use as ive spoken in other threads about using a boat on the Thames.
I will have a boat with me for the trip, it is necessary really, but for safety reasons, the winner wont be setting foot in it. There wont be any reason for you to at all. I will be there as your gillie, and general slave (LOL) for the 48 hours. Im saying this now so that all interested understand that it wont be anything personal to the individual winner of the auction, it counts for all, no matter if you use a boat in france, or on your syndi lake.

Thames is a nasty place to be in a little boat, often when i go out to bait up, i will have to hold my self in the flow, waiting for a gap in the mahoosive sea going ships, to paddle back. These can give off a wake that can turn a bic over, unless you know exactly what your doing. Then theres the nutters in speedboats who wait till 3am and for me to be out rebaiting in the boat, to bring out their James Bond speedboats. To avoid the speed limits and give them a good thrash. I had one bloke one night come past me at what must have been 80mph+, would'nt have stood a chance in the dead of night.

Far safer all round to say, no one will be going in the boat except me LOL

All rods can be cast, there are clip marks worked out on the bank for each spot. So you'll be doing all your own thing, and 99.9% of the time fish are landed from the bank.

I can promise all intrested now, who ever wins is going to have the time of their lives.
Everysingle person who has come to the river with me has LOVED it, even mates who have lake fished for 30 years and caught everything, love the different aspect of Thames carping.

You'll have a long back scaley chunk with no name i tell thee LOL

Just found this thread and wanted to add a few words on how special a prize this is. I'm sure all of us who have done Stoney events over the years will realise the worth of the cause but to do a session on the river with Mark really is an act of true generosity. I've been lucky enough to do several sessions and even witness some of the fish and it is a special place indeed, the sort of place that only years of hard work and dedication can unearth. To be willing to share that sort of knowledge speaks volumes about your character mate, if only there were more like you in the carp fishing world.

I must warn anyone bidding though that Official Secrets Act is extremely thorough, travel blindfolded and be left in no uncertain terms of reprisals should you break its terms. LOL I'm only jesting but it's a worthy experience and even if you don't catch you'll learn so much your head will hurt. I can't believe there's no definition of the required levels of tea supplies for the lucky winner! Just take enough to easily last a good week session... and then double it just to be sure. The lad's a machine when it comes to tea drinking.

It's a very, very special place indeed and even the doubles will do their best to tear the rod from your hand then rag you up and down the river. As if you didn't need any more incentive here's a couple of mine from when I managed to blag myself a trip with Mark

This is an old mate Simon, he has a young family, hard job working long hours, so barely gets a chance to angle. Certainly no where near as much as im sure he'd love to.

This was on the one and only time hes been to the river, took him when i knew they would be there....... "Swim 2"

The scan does it no justice at all, its ruined what is such a lovely print...

That if it happens would be amazing mate, from the sounds of how your talking i'd still say you hold every chance of winning it in my book.

If it is to be someone else mate, as you said............ Make them pay through the nose for it.

Best of luck
